NUSC is proud to use our events to support and fund-raise for good causes. It is a showcase of a commitment to “Hilton in the Community” values that we continue to be privileged to represent on behalf of Hilton Newcastle Gateshead.
2015-2016 saw the club working in some unique projects:
July saw the use of our “Hilton Newcastle Gateshead International Challenge Series” against the England PD team to support the official opening of the new £130,000 cricket training facility at Jesmond Cricket Ground in Newcastle.
The facility was officially opened with BBC filming by England captain and NUSC member Iain Nairn.
Despite being a slightly ‘damp’ day, the weather could not dampen the atmosphere provided by Newcastle CC and we thank you all once again for hosting England in such a fantastic way.
Thanks to the support of RGS Newcastle Headmaster and Bursar, NUSC was able to donate its ground fees to ABF The Soldiers Charity to support their ongoing work to rehabilitate service personnel.
It was a great pleasure for our 2015 captain Teja Nidamanuru to present the cheque to Major Eric Ingram MBE and Deputy Lieutenant of Tyne and Wear in July.
NUSC was honoured to be asked to play the inaugural ‘George Patterson T20 Pro Challenge’ at Horden CC in August. George’s 50 years of dedication to Horden junior cricket was marked with a special T20 match featuring an Horden Heat X1 uniting cricketers from all over the world to take on an NUSC Select X1. NUSC was delighted to mark its participation with a donation of a limited edition England cricket helmet to be auctioned to raise funds for the junior section.
Aside from the money raised, the entertaining cricket match played, the new friendships made and the worldwide players uniting to mark a legend, it was the number of juniors down practicing all night that George would have most welcomed.
We encourage any player who becomes a member of NUSC to support, participate and embrace the clubs ongoing commitment to the ‘Hilton in the Community’ values.
